Gallico Vinum
From Bordeaux to Burgundy and Beyond: A Journey Through the Finest Wines of France.
France has given the world many cultural treasures, yet few are as enduring—or as revealing—as its wines. From the limestone slopes of Burgundy to the gravel terraces of Bordeaux, these landscapes are more than celebrated wine regions. They are living archives of history, culture, and human judgment, shaped over centuries and expressed anew with every vintage.
Gallico Vinum is an independent publication devoted to France’s most significant wines and estates. Founded by Wilma Baltus, it is written for people with a serious interest in fine French wine, as well as for collectors, investors, and wine professionals who seek depth, context, and long-term perspective.
Through Wine Estate Profiles, Gallico Vinum examines French wine estates in depth, exploring their history, vineyard holdings, terroir hierarchies, governance structures, stylistic identity, and generational continuity. The publication also presents Wine Profiles, devoted to individual wines and vintages, with particular attention to provenance, aging potential, and enduring relevance.
All content is researched and produced independently. No producer, merchant, or estate pays for inclusion or exerts influence over editorial direction. Gallico Vinum aims to provide the clarity and context needed to understand French wine’s past, present, and future.
